What Is Cloud Volumes Service? NetApp’s Latest Cloud Solution

December 1, 2018

Cloud Volumes Service is NetApp’s new, fully managed hyperscale cloud service for enterprise users seeking high performance and reliability. Cloud storage comes in many forms, from object storage to block-level devices. However, many organizations simply require a ready-to-use, highly available, high-performance shared file service where scalability is not an issue. This is the solution that NetApp® Cloud Volumes Service offers as a native cloud marketplace service in AWS and Google Cloud Platform, and as a first-party service called Azure NetApp Files, delivered supported by Microsoft, built on NetApp technology in Microsoft Azure. Being able to provision NFS and SMB volumes on demand helps to simplify the deployment of cloud-based file services, database environments, and analytics clusters, to name a few use cases. Cloud Volumes Service and Azure NetApp Files come with many features to help ease the management of large volumes of data, such as support for NetApp Snapshot™ copies and cloning, which DevOps engineers can use to rapidly create writable clones of production data. Using synchronization features, users can consolidate data in the cloud from multiple sources, either on premises or from other systems in the cloud.

How Modernizing Aging Data Center Infrastructure Improves Sustainability

whitePaper | October 20, 2022

Data center operators today are tasked with helping achieve corporate sustainability goals, including net-zero emissions commitments. Aging physical infrastructure is a significant obstacle to this effort. In addition to posing downtime risks or added maintenance costs, this infrastructure can negatively impact efficiency and environmental sustainability.

THE USER’S VIEW OF THE 5G RAN

whitePaper | October 26, 2022

Obviously, RAN performance and user experience are correlated. Still, there are ways to optimize the RAN performance to maximize the user experience that go beyond the optimization of individual RAN parameters. By improving the user experience, the wireless infrastructure becomes more cost-efficient, and the operator can squeeze more out of its network for the same investment.

Zero Trust Maturity Model

whitePaper | June 13, 2023

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) leads the nation’s effort to understand, manage, and reduce cybersecurity risk, including by supporting Federal Civilian Executive Branch agencies in evolving and operationalizing cybersecurity programs and capabilities. CISA’s Zero Trust Maturity Model (ZTMM) provides an approach to achieve continued modernization efforts related to zero trust within a rapidly evolving environment and technology landscape. This ZTMM is one of many paths that an organization can take in designing and implementing their transition plan to zero trust architectures in accordance with Executive Order (EO) 14028 “Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity” § (3)(b)(ii),1 which requires that agencies develop a plan to implement a Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA). While the ZTMM is specifically tailored for federal agencies as required by EO 14028, all organizations should review and consider adoption of the approaches outlined in this document.

Making the Case for Edge Data Centers

whitePaper | December 22, 2019

This white paper examines the latest trends in the broadband and video space, examines their implications for cable operators and other CSPs and explores what providers can do to overcome the challenges presented by the growing traffic bottlenecks. Download the new white paper from EdgeConneX that focuses on the use of localized Edge Data Centers®, rather than the standard large, centralized data centers in far-off locations, to deliver bandwidth-intensive content and latency-sensitive applications actions closer to end users.

Advancing the 5G Era Benefits and Opportunity of 5G-Advanced

whitePaper | September 20, 2022

This document focuses primarily on 3GPP Rel-18 - the inaugural release of 5G-Advanced. Initial work on Rel-18 in 3GPP started in 2022 (just before the finalisation of Rel-17), targeting commercialisation from 2024 onwards. As it evolves, 5G-Advanced will play an important role bridging from 5G to 6G with new features previously not standardised in 3GPP

Accelerating High-Speed Networking with Intel® I/O Acceleration Technology

whitePaper | January 1, 2023

The emergence of multi-Gigabit Ethernet allows data centers to adapt to the increasing bandwidth requirements of enterprise IT. To take full advantage of this network capacity, data center managers must consider the impact of hightraffic volume on server resources. A compelling way of efficiently translating high bandwidth into increased throughput and enhanced quality of service is to take advantage of Intel® I/O Acceleration Technology (Intel® I/OAT), now available in the new Dual-Core and Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processor-based server platforms. Intel I/OAT moves data more efficiently through these servers for fast, scalable, and reliable networking.
