Zscaler Opens a Co-Located Data Center in Canberra

In order to provide enhanced resilience to businesses in the public and private sectors, cloud security company Zscaler has opened a new co-located data center in Canberra.

The data center, which will supplement the already-existing infrastructures in both Sydney and Melbourne, both of which are co-located within Equinix data centers, is part of the company's continued investment in its Australian operations, according to the statement. A data center for Zscaler has also opened in Auckland, New Zealand.

The data centers will offer computational capabilities, SSL interception, and edge-running security services in addition to supporting Zscaler's core products, Zscaler Private Access and Zscaler Internet Access.

Along with the increased speed, scale, and stability of the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange cloud security platform, Zscaler claimed that customers would also benefit from increased capacity, performance, and security.

"Successful organisations of any size realise that any disruption, regardless of how small a security incident, will have an impact on the business as a whole. At present, we support more than a million users from Australia on our platform and these numbers are set to escalate. Bringing new data centre facilities to Canberra and Auckland puts our industry-leading Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange platform closer to our customers."

Zscaler regional vice president Steve Singer

In order to protect Australia from dangers like potential national state and supply chain attacks, Singer said there is a constant emphasis "at all levels of the community."

Zscaler customer Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation's senior network operations administrator John Pratezina stated in the announcement that "Our organization recently went live successfully with Zscaler Internet Access and Zscaler Private Access which is supporting our employees with a complete, secure, stack as a service from the cloud."

"Zscaler's investment in onshore data centre infrastructure here in Australia provides certainty and the company's focus on serving the needs of the Australian public sector ecosystem provides us with confidence that our security requirements will continue to be met in the years ahead."
