Rapidly expanding infrastructure sensing and monitoring company, Fiber Sense Limited (FiberSense), today announced the appointment of Chris Sharp, Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR) Chief Technology Officer (CTO), as a Non-Executive Director. Chris will join existing Chairman Bevan Slattery as Co-Chair.
Sharp, having led technology teams across two of the largest data center operators in the world, brings an extensive background in championing the development of new technology strategies and applying them to global markets. Sharp's leadership is a significant addition to the FiberSense Board as it embarks on the scale-up phase of operations.
Currently CTO of Digital Realty (DLR), a leading global provider of Digital Infrastructure services, Sharp was previously at Equinix where he led innovation of next-generation cloud and interconnection solutions. Sharp has also held leadership roles at network and colocation providers, including Qwest Communications, MCI/Verizon Business and Reliance Globalcom.

The FiberSense suite of proprietary technologies leverages existing telecom fiber cables to provide valuable insights to a wide range of customers. Nigeria’s largest mobile network operator (MNO), MTN, is all set to launch RCS Business Messaging (RBM) Services in partnership with Google and Dotgo, a Gupshup company and a leading cloud communications provider of RBM Solutions.
RBM uses the rich and interactive features of Rich Communication Services (RCS)—the next generation SMS that allows sharing of audio, video, images, location, and a lot more—to enable branded business messaging. RCS messages are securely delivered to native messaging apps such as Google Messages and Samsung Messages on Android phones. Available on 3G and 4G networks, RCS is the default messaging standard for 5G networks. As of today, RCS is available globally with over 700M monthly active users.

Auvik, an award-winning provider of cloud-based network management software, today announced it has been working with the City of Williamsburg, Virginia to provide network monitoring and asset management services for automated, real-time network visibility.
Williamsburg is one of Virginia’s oldest municipalities and one of the U.S.’ most popular historical destinations, renowned for its preservation of American colonial history. In addition to the city’s year-round residents the region receives an average of 1.5 million visitors per year. Ensuring superior digital service delivery is important for this bustling city, but with limited resources, Williamsburg’s IT Department had traditionally relied on basic tools like spreadsheets to log and track configuration changes, device statuses, and details of available IT assets. With zero visibility into their networks, the team had to spend hours to find the root causes behind any network issues.
As part of the City Council’s Williamsburg of 2040 initiative, the IT Department was tasked with modernizing its infrastructure in order to better support the Williamsburg community and its vital tourism industry.
