Juniper Buys Composable Infrastructure Firm HTBASE

Juniper Networks agreed to purchase composable infrastructure firm HTBASE. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, however the networking company expects the acquisition to close this quarter. HTBASE makes composable infrastructure that is based upon containers and can work across an organization’s private data centers and multiple public clouds. The company’s product, which is called Juke, is geared toward firms that want to build applications using containers but also want to consume cloud services. In a blog post, Juniper CTO Bikash Koley wrote that HTBASE’s technology will complement Juniper’s Contrail offerings. Initially, Juniper plans to incorporate HTBASE into Contrail Enterprise Multicloud to add a storage capability, making it easier for enterprises to migrate workloads across stacks. A Juniper Networks spokesperson said that HTBASE’s platform is unique because it makes the complete infrastructure layer (compute, storage, and networking) transparent to applications, without impacting the operating system or architecture.
