AMD announced its latest EPYC data center processors with support from cloud providers, server manufactures, and software providers including IBM Cloud, Microsoft, Dell Technologies, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), VMware, and others. The three processors, EPYC 7F32, EPYC 7F52, and EPYC 7F72, which have eight, 16, and 24 cores, respectively, are part of AMD’s second-generation EPYC chip family and target database, commercial high-performance computing (HPC), and hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) workloads. VMware today said it now has more than 15,000 Virtual Cloud Network customers, including 89 of the Fortune 100 and eight of the top 10 telecommunication operators. Specific to SD-WAN, which is one piece of the virtual networking stack, more than 225,000 branch offices have deployed VMware’s SD-WAN, said Tom Gillis, SVP and GM of VMware’s Networking and Security Business Unit. “We are the No. 1 vendor in SD-WAN,” Gillis said.
