CenturyLink Plans Fiber Network Infrastructure Expansion to Meet High-Speed Connectivity Demand

CenturyLink is expanding its fiber network infrastructure in many parts of the United States, benefiting small businesses, enterprises and residents. CenturyLink provided faster internet speeds to about 300,000 more small businesses and homes last year. That includes parts of Boulder, Colorado; Spokane, Washington; and Tucson, Arizona. The company plans to bring gigabit speeds to about 400,000 more small businesses and homes via fiber. Those are in certain areas of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon, Utah and Washington.


Garrett Gee is CenturyLink’s channel chief. He tells us fiber network infrastructure will provide new opportunities for CenturyLink’s partners. “These fiber expansions give our channel partners even more opportunity to connect their customers with the high-speed networking and business solutions they need,” he said. “As CenturyLink’s multitenant unit building footprint expands, the opportunity for our partners increases. CenturyLink is focused on helping our channel partner community succeed with our growing network reach, comprehensive portfolio of technology solutions and unparalleled support.” CenturyLink also recently expanded its network infrastructure in eight cities for the benefit of larger enterprises.

The expansion connects large technology corporations, startups and data centers to CenturyLink’s fiber network. These expansions were in cities in Arizona, California, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas. CenturyLink connected about 18,000 more buildings to its global network last year. The company will expand its network infrastructure in 20 more cities this year. The company is currently selling routes to large enterprise companies and content providers in the U.S. and will work with customers to add additional routes as needed.

Through various fiber builds, CenturyLink enabled an estimated 300,000 additional homes and small businesses with faster internet speeds in 2019, including the delivery of gigabit speeds in certain portions of Boulder, Colo., Spokane, Wash and Tucson, Ariz. CenturyLink plans on continuing its fiber construction projects and expects to bring gigabit speeds to an estimated 400,000 additional homes and small businesses in certain areas of several cities, including.
