New IT Infrastructure Going Online At Falmouth Town Hall

After four outages in the past year, the town is the in the process of updating its infrastructure systems, Director of Information Technology Gregory Banwarth told the Falmouth Board of Selectmen on Monday, July 1. The most recent outage occurred two weeks ago. “The one two weeks ago was our most severe,” Mr. Banwarth said. “Part of that outage actually corrupted our file data server, which made us resort to a backup. We lost two business days of data.” While none of this data was “essential,” he said the town lost a dozen staff reports in the outage. In addition, the outage caused minor interruptions to dispatch services. “Any disruption to dispatch the town considers to be unacceptable,” Mr. Banwarth said. Falmouth Town Meeting approved $265,000 for these infrastructure upgrades at the November Town Meeting. In addition, an additional $86,000 was allotted to add another stack of servers. “This will add a third layer of redundancy...
