Growing Mobile Availability Fuels Healthcare Mobile Development

September 26, 2018 / Elizabeth O'Dowd

The dependence on mobile networks to keep patients and clinicians connected is expected to increase dramatically over the next several years, according to the latest GSMA Mobile Industry Impact Report. This increased availability is expected to encourage healthcare mobile development. One of the most significant ways increased mobility has contributed to healthcare is it has improved the way patients access their care, said report authors. “More than two-thirds of the people on the planet are now connected to a mobile network and, for many, mobile is the primary, sometimes only, channel for accessing the internet and life-enhancing services,” GSMA Director General Mats Granryd said in a statement. “This report reiterates how the mobile industry is playing a central role in accelerating delivery of the SDGs and leveraging the power of mobile networks and services to transform lives around the world.”
