AIOps gives infrastructure agility a proactive advantage

IT Operations (ITOps) was never easy. Many environments grew organically, with new equipment added over the years. They also made ITOps ever more complex. “Each vendor also requires companies to update to their latest releases and patches. It makes the situation more complex,” said Ivan Siu, Senior Business Manager, HPE Hong Kong. A hybrid cloud strategy that many companies are deploying makes ITOps' job even worse. "The trend is going to be the hybrid cloud. But a lot of different studies prove that no single solution is best for a particular company," Siu said. The issue is not the cloud, but the difficulty in getting operational cloud know-how. "Customers do not have experience in the hybrid solution in the most efficient way," he added. All these factors put the ITOps team in the dark when an infrastructure problem surfaces. ITOps teams also suffer from alert information overload. Too many false positives can make root cause investigations a drawn-out detective TV series. The answer lies in artificial intelligence (AI). Many ITOps tasks are routine and alert-based. Why not train a bot or an algorithm to build a machine learning model that can assist the team to be proactive?
