Successful VDI Implementation for Financial Services

Virtualization can help address many IT challenges faced by financial services companies, such as the need for security and efficiency even in the face of tight budgets. In fact, concerns surrounding the security of customer data were what drove Flushing Bank to set up a virtual desktop environment. Flushing Bank is a regional operation with 500 employees spread across 19 branches in Nassau County and New York City. Flushing’s IT department felt the bank needed better security for customer data stored on its employees’ desktop and notebook PCs. The company moved all storage and processing of customer data to a protected data center environment and provided virtual desktops for 150 concurrent users using VMware Horizon. The bank also added a secondary data center for 150 additional reserve floating desktops.
