GitLab, Google collaborate to ease Kubernetes deployments

GitLab is collaborating with Google Cloud to provide native integration into Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). GitLab said its native GKE integration will enable developers to automatically spin up a cluster to deploy applications in a few clicks. These clusters are completely managed by Google Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) and run on Google Cloud Platform’s (GCP) infrastructure. The Auto Devops side of GitLab consists of a collection of features and depends on having a Kubernetes deployment environment. The purpose of the new integration is to simplify the complexity coupled to setting up, deploying and maintaining Kubernetes clusters. It will automatically configure CI/CD pipelines to build, test and deploy applications, according to the company.
