7-Eleven IT infrastructure deal for Wipro

A new deal between convenience chain 7-Eleven Australia and technology solutions provider Wipro has paved the way for an "organisation-wide retail process re-engineering" at the retailer. In a joint statement released on Monday, the companies said that the new partnership will enable 7-Eleven to launch new merchandise categories, improve the efficiency of its existing merchandise categories and initiate real-time targeted promotions, as well as smooth out the processes during mergers and acquisitions. The deal will result in the upgrade, migration and consolidation of 7-Eleven's IT applications and infrastructure, as well as see one of the first implementations of the SAP for Retail solution portfolio on the SAP HANA platform across Asia Pacific & Japan. Among the benefits expected from the tech update include the creation of a real-time transactional and reporting infrastructure, as well as a foundation for predictive customer analytics that can contribute to forecasting and managing the retailer's future business requirements.
