E-Tailers Strengthen IT Backbone To Avoid Tech Glitches

On its Big Billion Days sale, e-commerce major Flipkart  was upbeat. It wanted to avoid repeating mistakes of the previous year, wherein the company faced technical glitches and price issues, thereby offering a seamless experience to customers. Unfortunately, things were not as rosy as they expected. Offering the app-only option resulted in the app crashing for some users. This was followed by a series of criticism on social media sites. E-commerce players have often faced the wrath of consumers because their infrastructure failed to live up to the demand. This is especially common in the festival season, when traffic peaks, making it difficult for etailers to cope with their backend. However, when such campaigns are successfully handled, it can provide an immense opportunity for ecommerce players to take on their rivals for a slice of a larger market share.
