IT leaders in state and local governments are looking to the cloud for infrastructure, software and storage because of the flexibility and scalability of the model. Often forgotten are the IT staffs who manage the data centers that power cloud computing; those workers are responsible for keeping servers up 99.999 percent of the time by overseeing power, cooling and assets. According to IDC’s infographic below, 84 percent of data centers ran into at least one uptime issue in 2012.
