The Primary Role of an SD-WAN: Ensure Successful Application Delivery

For the last three years SD-WAN has been the hottest topic in networking largely because of the ability of this new architecture to lower WAN costs by enabling network organizations to either replace or supplement expensive MPLS links with inexpensive Internet links. While reducing cost is always an important business goal, network organizations need to be constantly focused on ensuring that they provide maximum value to the company’s business unit managers. Showing the business value of the WAN is often difficult because few business unit managers care very much about any component of their company’s IT infrastructure including their WAN. What they care about is the applications they use to run their business unit.
