Soliton Systems and 5G Hub Collaborate to Demonstrate Remote Control of Race Car

Soliton Systems, a leading provider of ultra-low latency streaming solutions over cellular networks, has revealed an almost unbelievable demonstration of remote control of a race car over 5G.

Soliton Systems, in collaboration with VodafoneZiggo and Ericsson Telecommunication, will demonstrate a remotely powered race car as part of the 5G Hub initiative to collectively highlight futuristic applications. It will be managed by a video live stream and remotely powered by 5G.

Soliton Systems Europe's Managing Director, Go Ito, says "We want to show something amazing with the 5G Hub, something that will demonstrate the dependability and capabilities of our ultra-low latency units for live streaming, combined with the power of 5G. 'What could highlight our competencies better than remotely controlling a high-speed race car?' we thought. Even a few milliseconds of video delay or loss may be catastrophic."

Soliton's advanced encoding technology, along with its stable RASCOW2 transmission protocol, uses several networks simultaneously for improved connectivity and redundancy, enabling what was previously the domain of science fiction films to become a reality. Remote driving, remote heavy machinery operation, remote drone control, and remote surgery could all become common.

According to Ericsson Solution Architect Edwin Dijkstra: "Soliton makes a significant contribution to the 5G Hub ecosystem. Our collaboration enables us to collectively demonstrate futuristic applications with low latency. The Hub aims to be a breeding ground for emerging technology, which we are accomplishing with our ambitious remote driving car demonstration."

About 5G Hub

VodafoneZiggo, Ericsson, Brainport Development, and High-Tech Campus are the four founding fathers of 5G Hub. The 5G Hub, located on High Tech Campus Eindhoven, includes a research facility, training facilities, and a demo studio with 5G and IoT capabilities, letting people explore and co-create emerging technology over 5G.

About Soliton Systems

Soliton Systems is a Japanese company with global offices that manufactures a variety of encrypted video encoding and security devices. Telecom companies are using the Smart-telecaster Zao series for modern 5G business applications, and suppliers are using it for teleoperation projects.
