Styra’s Authorization Policy Tools Speed Up Infrastructure Deployment

Styra | January 23, 2023

Styra, Inc. creates and maintains Open Policy Agents (OPA) and is one of the leading cloud-native authorization firms. The company recently introduced the toolset for infrastructure to its Styra Declarative Authorization Service (DAS) and the industry’s broadest policy library. In addition, Styra offers NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-190 compliant policies within its expanded library that includes hundreds of validated policies to address security concerns associated with the use of containers. Styra speeds up the deployment of secure, compliant cloud-native infrastructure and gives enterprise platform teams the tools they need to deploy resources for distributed developers systematically. This saves time and money while keeping security best practices. To ensure security, compliance, and operational health, platform engineers repeatedly write or customize software that stops developers from making errors, and over time build customized guardrails that automatically impose security rules, compliance regulations, and other operational policies each time a developer makes a change. This effort often includes undifferentiated heavy lifting, which adds complexity, risk and creates a significant barrier to on-time delivery. It is when enterprises cannot afford to choose between security and business time-to-market platform, engineering teams can benefit from policy editing for business users, validate building blocks and policy-as-code guardrails to deliver infrastructure resources without compromising security instead of building them from scratch-in-house. Styra enables infrastructure-managing platform teams to: Eliminate manual policy creation and reduce production risks systematically for infrastructure deployments by utilizing policy templates and editing tools that are simple to deploy. Deploy faster with hundreds of Styra-validated AWS, Azure, GCP, and Kubernetes policies for Terraform from the most popular open-source tools and libraries. Easily enforce best practices and compliance for Kubernetes clusters with NIST SP 800-190 compliant policies from Styra, in addition to an extensive collection of Styra validated policies for PCI DSS, MITRE ATT&CK, CIS Benchmarks, and Pod Security Compliance. Enforce policy guardrails on CloudFormation stacks to prevent AWS resource misconfiguration during final resource change checks with the first general-purpose third-party CloudFormation hook from Styra. About Styra Styra Founded in 2019, Styra enables enterprises to enforce, define and monitor policy across their cloud-native environments with the combination of both open source (Open Policy Agent) and commercial solutions (Declarative Authorization Service). The company provides operations, security, and compliance guardrails to safeguard applications, also the infrastructure the company works on. Its policy-as-code solution allows developers, DevOps, and security teams to relieve risks, speed up application development and reduce human error.

Introducing MoEngage Inform, A Unified Messaging Infrastructure for Multichannel Transactional Notifications Through One API

MoEngage | November 17, 2022

MoEngage, the insights-led customer engagement platform, today announced its new product, MoEngage Inform, a unified messaging infrastructure that enables brands to build and manage multichannel transactional alerts through one API. Consumers expect immediate updates on critical transactional notifications at their fingertips. Using MoEngage Inform, brands can provide real-time transactional alerts to improve the customer experience, such as an order or booking confirmation after a product is purchased, a delivery notification when a package arrives, one-time passwords (OTPs) for approving transactions or logging in securely, or notifications around password resets, among other time-sensitive alerts. Oftentimes, building, updating, and delivering these critical alerts requires significant engineering bandwidth and resources. There is a heavy reliance on development teams to maintain a transactional messaging infrastructure and add new channels; in some cases, integrating a new vendor or new communication channel provider can take at least eight weeks of engineering efforts. Moreover, brands often encounter a siloed customer experience due to multiple delivery providers and API demands, resulting in limited visibility into customers' actions. There is no unified view of notifications received by customers, meaning product teams cannot easily identify if a customer has already received or has acted on an alert; potentially leading to customers receiving duplicate alerts across channels. Inform makes transactional alert management seamless so brands can focus more on delivering the cohesive, time-sensitive messages that consumers want. Inform's single API requires a one-time setup, freeing up engineering bandwidth and pushing control to the product or marketing teams. MoEngage Inform is a component of the MoEngage Customer Engagement Platform, which together enables brands to have one platform to support all of their customer messaging and notifications needs, both transactional and marketing-related. Product and marketing teams will be able to have a unified view of the customer journey, so they can collectively understand and gather insights to inform future initiatives to deliver a better customer experience. With MoEngage Inform, brands can achieve: Unified Customer Experiences - Get a unified view of how customers engage with the brand, including transactional and promotional messages across channels, and leverage an advanced algorithm that uses AI to determine what channels each customer prefers to receive critical alerts on and set a priority order automatically. Centralized Visibility and Performance - Track and optimize the performance of your multichannel transactional and promotional messages in one central dashboard. Reduced Engineering Resources and Improved Effectiveness - Power all transactional messaging with a single API and integrate with any communication channel with ease, supporting more than 30 providers. More Autonomy, Faster Delivery of Alerts - Get out-of-the-box templates to create new alerts in minutes, with alerts being delivered in under 5 seconds. A built-in fallback mechanism ensures critical alerts are delivered on other channels upon disruptions. Improved Data Security and Reporting - Achieve unified notification logs and delivery reports across channels, making identifying and debugging issues easier. "As organizations grow, their messaging and communication needs become more complex. With MoEngage Inform, engineering teams can focus on delivering core offerings instead of building backend infrastructures, and product and marketing teams can deliver critical transactional alerts without breaking customer experiences," said Raviteja Dodda, CEO and co-founder of MoEngage.

Strata Identity Joins Cloud Security Alliance to Advance Multi-Cloud Identity Interoperability

Strata | December 09, 2022

Strata Identity, the Identity Orchestration company, today announced it has joined the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), the world's leading organization dedicated to defining and raising awareness of best practices to help ensure a secure cloud computing environment. Strata Identity’s founders created ClearTrust, the first web single sign-on platform, Symplified, the first Identity as a Service (IDaaS) offering, and co-authored the ubiquitous SAML identity federation standard. The company’s Maverics Identity Orchestration Platform enables incompatible cloud identity systems to function as one, so customers can unify access policies and governance. Strata is also a founding member of the open source identity federation software Hexa, a CNCF sandbox project, and the IDQL standard for policy orchestration. Lack of interoperability between individual cloud identity platforms and their legacy on-premises brethren is holding back app modernization and cloud migration projects, We look forward to collaborating with the CSA’s extensive community of vendors, enterprises and industry influencers to advance open standards for cloud identity orchestration.” Eric Olden, CEO of Strata Identity “We’re excited to welcome Strata Identity as a member of CSA,” said Jim Reavis, co-founder and CEO of the Cloud Security Alliance. “Strata’s expertise in multi-cloud identity orchestration and its founders’ pioneering work in identity management will help our membership address app modernization challenges. We look forward to collaborating with Strata to increase awareness of identity orchestration in the cloud.” About the Cloud Security Alliance The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) is the world's leading organization dedicated to defining and raising awareness of best practices to help ensure a secure cloud computing environment. CSA harnesses the subject matter expertise of industry practitioners, associations, governments, and its corporate and individual members to offer cloud security-specific research, education, certification, events and products. CSA's activities, knowledge and extensive network benefit the entire community impacted by cloud — from providers and customers, to governments, entrepreneurs and the assurance industry — and provide a forum through which diverse parties can work together to create and maintain a trusted cloud ecosystem. About Strata Strata Identity is the leader in Identity Orchestration for hybrid and multi-cloud environments. The orchestration recipe-powered Maverics platform enables organizations to integrate and control incompatible identity systems without changing the user access experience. By decoupling applications from identity, Maverics makes it possible to implement modern authentication, like passwordless, and enforce consistent access policies without refactoring source code. The company’s founders created the IDQL (Identity Query Language) standard and Hexa open-source software for multi-cloud policy orchestration and are co-authors of the SAML standard for SSO federation.
