Pivotal Commware, global leader in 5G mmWave infrastructure products for the wireless edge, announces that Pivotal Turnkey is expanding 5G mmWave coverage for a Tier 1 mobile network operator (MNO) in Atlanta. Pivotal Turnkey provides an end-to-end solution using Pivotal’s mmWave product ecosystem.

Turnkey delivers fixed wireless access (FWA) households to MNOs at lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) – 25% to 35% the cost of fiber – and lower time-to-revenue. Pivotal’s breakthrough network planning tool, WaveScape™, optimizes the placement of network elements, like the Pivot 5G® network repeater, for a given coverage objective. Network management and optimization for the repeater network layer is handled by Pivotal’s cloud-based Intelligent Beam Management System (IBMS).

Besides the size, weight, and power consumption advantages of the Pivot 5G, WaveScape’s latest development, the Reverb™ pathloss modelling feature, performs ray tracing to model reflection and diffraction and quantify their impact on network coverage. Reverb is compatible with WaveScape’s ultra-high-resolution data, and it allows coverage qualification to be extremely deterministic, giving carriers high confidence in its Mobility coverage predictions and FWA qualifications.

“Like its predecessors MDU Optimizer™ and 3D visualization, Reverb helps compress Pivotal’s network deployment process time and ensures carriers equipment is being deployed and utilized as efficiently as possible,” said Jay Maciejewski, General Manager of Pivotal Turnkey.

“With Pivotal Turnkey, we can go into any city where an MNO has deployed mmWave 5G coverage for mobility services and use their pre-existing network elements, alongside ours, to light up new FWA services in a few months,” said Brian Deutsch, CEO of Pivotal Commware. “By providing the lowest total cost of ownership for the operator and accelerating their time-to-revenue, we go from FWA-zero to hero in just a few months.”

Effective deployment partnerships have been key to Turnkey’s success. In Georgia, Pivotal’s collaboration with FiberLight provided efficient access to and asset deployment on local utility assets. FiberLight’s deep industry knowledge and experience working with utilities was instrumental in turning existing infrastructure into Pivotal 5G mmWave locations in a timely manner.

“For more than 25 years, FiberLight has been at the forefront of building state-of-the-art networks, and we have invested in developing and upgrading the infrastructure that ignites digital transformation for our customers,” said Ron Kormos, FiberLight’s Chief Strategy Officer. “We are pleased to partner with Pivotal to deliver the rapid turn up of 5G mm wave technology, and enable a high-capacity, resilient network to drive business success in the Atlanta market."

5G FWA has been a runaway success for MNOs competing for their share of the $100 billion U.S. broadband market. As data demand continues to climb at a 40 percent compound annual growth rate, keeping subscribers happy will require the higher capacity found at mmWave frequencies, freeing up costly and scarce sub-6 GHz frequencies for mobile users.

About Pivotal Commware, Inc.

Pivotal Commware created the world’s first product ecosystem dedicated to solving millimeter wave’s most vexing challenges: WaveScape™ network planning tool for optimizing the placement of network elements, Pivot 5G network repeaters for navigating signals around obstacles, Echo 5G subscriber repeaters for penetrating signals indoors through window glass, and Intelligent Beam Management System platform for managing and optimizing the repeater network. Pivotal repeaters use its patented antenna technology, Holographic Beam Forming® for lowest cost, size, weight, and power consumption (C-SWaP). Pivotal Turnkey Services is an end-to-end solution for planning and deploying fixed wireless access (FWA) for Mobile Network Operators.

prnewswire | August 21, 2023

DataBank, a leading provider of enterprise-class colocation, connectivity, and managed services, announced today the completion of seven data center expansions in Dallas, Las Vegas, San Diego, Irvine, and Kansas City as well as two in Atlanta. Combined, these colocation facilities have added 15+ megawatts of power and 114,000 raised square feet of floor space during the past 12 months to their existing capacities. "For organizations planning to deploy, or for existing customers already set up in these data centers, these expansions give them more room to grow," said Tony Qorri, the DataBank Vice President of Construction. "They can avoid the hassle of moving to a new data center when it's time to scale their compute resources." Customers also won't have to worry about the cost of building out their existing facilities or migrating applications to a new data center—which helps avoid risk. With these expansions, the seven data centers now enable customers to consume more power and leverage abundant raised floor space. Each data center features advanced power designs and cooling systems for redundancy as well as modern dual-factor authentication for client access to the facilities. For onsite security, DataBank provides 7x24x365 staffing and CCTV. The data centers also comply with SSAE18, SOC1, SOC2, HIPAA, GLBA, and PCI-DSS. The seven data centers are strategically located in top U.S. metros and serve as major interconnect hubs to extend customer network infrastructure to today's edge—where end-users demand low latency.
