One of those companies carving out a niche in this area is OmniSci, which is making key alliances with the likes of Intel, Nvidia and HP to make it happen.OmniSci held its first annual Converge conference in Silicon Valley this week for customers and partners and is confident that next year’s event will be much bigger, as industry players and enterprise customers start to complete real roll-outs at the edge over and above relying on 5G.This progression, as far as OmniSci is concerned, is not dependent on the success or otherwise around wrapping artificial intelligence around driverless cars and other fanciful projects. It is about bringing the high-speed data processing closer to customers that are already, in many cases, already using its technology in the cloud using platforms from the likes of AWS and Microsoft Azure.
