Benu Networks | December 07, 2021
Benu Networks, the company transforming the service provider network edge, today announced that their SD-Edge platform has been named by the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) to the shortlist for the multi-operator OpenBNG RFI released earlier this year.
The RFI, jointly produced by BT, Deutsche Telekom, Telecom Italia, Telefónica, and Vodafone, shortlisted those companies whose solutions met the requirements defined for a next generation Broadband Network Gateway (BNG). The selection was made after an exhaustive and detailed evaluation of the responses to the OpenBNG RFI which contained nearly 2,000 requirements across routing, BNG capabilities, and provider edge MPLS services.
“Benu is extremely proud to have our SD-Edge platform named to the shortlist for such an important initiative by this esteemed group of service providers,It is validation of our efforts to provide network edge technology so service providers can deliver innovative services, improve customer experience, and simultaneously lower total cost of ownership.”
Ajay Manuja, CEO of Benu Networks
“With global demand for bandwidth growing, our fixed networks are more critical than ever,” said Rafael Cantó Palancar, co-chair of the TIP Fixed Broadband Project Group. “Benu Networks brings valuable support and expertise in this domain, and we look forward to working with them on test and validation activities during the next phases of the project.”
The OpenBNG initiative, part of the TIP Fixed Broadband (FiBr) Project Group, is a significant example of industry consensus to taking an innovative approach to wireline network infrastructure, which underpins 100% of Internet traffic including the backhaul for 5G mobile connections.
The Benu SD-Edge platform is already broadly deployed across five continents and supports a variety of network functions including Broadband Network Gateway (BNG), Wi-Fi Access Gateway (WAG), Trusted WAG (TWAG), Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) Gateway, and 5G Access Gateway Function (AGF). As part of the TIP selection process, Benu will move into the test and validation phase in the first half of 2022.

NEXCOM | September 03, 2021
NEXCOM, a leading supplier of network appliances, announce its new professional uCPE product line, nexCPE™, which includes three appliances targeted at three different segment for 5G application. Each nexCPE™ product is designed based on Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology to enable connections with greater bandwidth, lower latency and higher frequency. All three appliances are powered by Intel® processors and offer a large selection of optional features to provide maximum flexible customization.
"Cut the cord" movement has started from end-users and now found its way deeper to the core, urging business owners to switch their attention to wireless network appliances. Alongside with leveraging the newest technologies; such as 5G, mmWave, and network slicing; appliances based on 5G FWA technology help to minimize physical infrastructure all the way from Fixed Access to Multi-access edge computing (MEC) servers, thus ensuring seamless last mile connectivity, and saving companies OpEx and CapEx budgets significantly.
nexCPE™ product line levels up common understanding of traditional uCPE boxes. This trio not only supports current 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) infrastructure, but also proves future-ready for 5G Standalone (SA) infrastructure. DFA 1163 is an entry-level desktop appliance to enable 5G networks for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), while both FTA 1170 and FTA 5180 are 1U rackmounts that target small and medium-sized branch offices and enterprises, respectively. Even one of nexCPE™ products, integrated into existing network architecture, can significantly improve network performance. Deployed together, they cover all possible requirements to build a safe and stable 5G network. Both 1U rackmounts will be available in Q4 this year, so stay tuned for the latest eNews update.
Founded in 1992 and headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan, NEXCOM integrates its diverse capabilities, and operates six global businesses, including the Network and Communication Solutions (NCS) unit. NCS focuses on the latest network technology and helps to build reliable network infrastructure, by delivering professional design and manufacturing services. NCS's network application platform is widely adopted in Cyber Security Appliance, Load Balancer, uCPE, SD-WAN, Edge Computing, Storage, NVR, and other network applications for businesses of all sizes.
Ceragon Networks Ltd | September 27, 2021
Ceragon Networks Ltd. the global innovator and leading solutions provider of 5G wireless transport, announced today that it has secured a multi-million-dollar contract to design and supply a microwave network in Indonesia as part of an ambitious government project to provide Internet and telecom access to rural areas in the country, including schools, government offices, and hospitals. In this project, Ceragon is the primary vendor selected to provide the wireless transmission solutions for the 4G LTE access network, including design and project management services.
With 16,056 islands, extreme humidity that ranges between 70-90%, heavy rainfall, and climbing cases of COVID-19, the project poses a challenge for Indonesia in the achievement of its Universal Service Obligation goal. Ceragon's solutions and services will help finish the project on time.
Ceragon's all-outdoor microwave solutions, based on the IP-20 platform, will contribute to cost savings on site construction thanks to their small footprint and minimum power consumption. Its Advance Space Diversity (ASD) solution will optimize the tower load in addition to saving overall logistic costs and speeding up the construction schedule. Ceragon's ASD solution requires fewer total antennas compared to other providers, creating a competitive advantage for both Ceragon and its customers.
We are very excited to participate in projects that are aligned with our vision to enable equal digital opportunities to all citizens of the world. As governments around the world intensify rural digitization, our all-outdoor high performance, low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) products and our expertise in providing full turnkey solutions position us as a leading vendor to win such projects. We have a strong presence in Indonesia, including long-term experience deploying our solutions in the country. I believe it is our reputed high-value technology, designed to save costs which is critical in such projects, that has differentiated us from our competition.
