Achronix and MoSys Partner to Target 5G Wireless and Broadband Networking Acceleration
Achronix Semiconductor Corporation, a leader in high-performance FPGAs and embedded FPGA IP, and MoSys, Inc., a provider of both semiconductor and IP solutions focused on accelerating data intelligence to enable fast, intelligent data access today announced a collaboration to deliver a new class of high-speed, programmable, FPGA-based infrastructure solutions tailored for the 5G wireless core and edge, data center, and broadband wired networks.

The solution will combine Achronix Speedster7t FPGAs with the MoSys Stellar Packet Classification Platform IP to deliver key building blocks needed for high-speed routing, compute and security solutions. 

MoSys Stellar Packet Classification IP utilizes the Achronix Speedster7t FPGA's high-speed GDDR6 memory interfaces to add support for:

  • 100's of millions of look-ups per second
  • Millions of packet classification rules: both access control lists (ACL) and longest prefix match (LPM)
  • Very complex, 10+ tuple look-ups at up to 480b TCAM-style rules
  • The MoSys Blazar Acceleration Engine ICs can also be easily coupled to Speedster7t FPGAs to add:
  • In-memory computing capabilities using 25G SerDes lanes
  • Up to 1Gb of high-speed memory to complement and expand the on-board FPGA SRAM by up to five times.

MoSys IP, together with Achronix FPGAs, can offload both high-end servers and multi-terabit switch designs to extend functionality and capacity as well as reduce latency for critical look-up functions, all at much lower power when compared to CPU-only based solutions. Combining Achronix Speedster7t FPGAs and MoSys Stellar Packet Classification IP will improve the performance of a wide range of applications and services for cloud data center operators, 5G mobile telecom service providers, government, and research organizations.

With the first Speedster7t device now shipping, the 7t1500 provides:

  • 692k look-up-tables (LUTs)
  • 195 Mb of memory
  • Four 400G Ethernet interfaces
  • Two PCIe Gen5 interfaces
  • Eight GDDR6 memory interfaces
  • High-bandwidth 2D network on chip (2D NoC)

The Speedster7t family are the only FPGAs with a 2D NoC which helps to support high-speed data transfers from external data interfaces to the FPGA's internal logic, delivering a total bandwidth of greater than 20 Tbps.

Qualitest and BT Evolve Partnership to Support Quality Assurance of 5G Solutions Anywhere in the UK

Qualitest the world's leading AI-powered quality engineering company, announces today that it has bolstered its 20-year relationship with BT Group the UK's largest mobile and broadband provider. BT recently unveiled its ambition to offer 5G solutions across the entire UK by 2028 and deliver the UK's first fully converged network by the mid-2020s. Qualitest's Managed Test Service (MTS) which significantly expands the scope of the engagement will help to ensure a consistent, positive user experience for consumer and business customers while this generational network transformation takes place. Prior to this contract, Qualitest has been working in partnership with BT, delivering smaller functional elements of the testing within EE's mobile network and infrastructure technologies, while working in tandem with BT to provide integration testing as a whole. Qualitest also supports the orchestration of BT's test labs, as well as providing engineering support, in collaboration with BT. This new MTS contract represents a deepening of the relationship, where Qualitest will deliver approximately 70% of the testing enabled by a new Quality Management Office. The more complete scope and remodelling of the service has enabled an increased focus on key programs delivering significant customer benefits. Qualitest will use automation and in-house talent to handle testing activities, resulting in significant savings and added value for BT. The company's Qualisense AI suite of testing tools, which provides a 360-degree approach to machine learning, enables data-driven decision-making. This addresses risk in key areas and measurement and analysis of the impacts of any changes to the system. The setup of the Quality Management Office will help Qualitest to leverage more transformational activities – such as agile approaches and methods to further accelerate service delivery – providing the necessary measures and controls to efficiently drive the mobile network testing effort. SolidRun Accelerates V2X Infrastructure Development with New Mini SOM based on NXP's i.MX 8XLite

Beyond serving as the perfect building block for V2X infrastructure, the SOM based on NXP's i.MX 8XLite is also well suited for industrial IoT, building control and robotics applications requiring time-sensitive networking (TSN) Ethernet or controller area network (CAN) connectivity. Great for advanced industrial processes that require reliable, accurate synchronization and real-time control, the integrated SoC's A35 cores and CAN-FD interface provide low-latency data transmission. Engineered to serve a variety of application environments, ranging from commercial and industrial vehicles to roadside communications hubs and even robotics, the SOM supports a vast operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Its efficient design maintains a low operating temperature without a fan and reduces the potential of heat and dust-related failures, resulting in reliable long-term operation and performance. "Smart cities and V2X communications will not only dramatically improve the efficiency of our roadways, but it will also play a significant role in reducing collision-related traffic deaths and make it easier for emergency vehicles to cut through congested areas,However, none of this can take shape without reliable hardware, like our SOM connecting the infrastructure and vehicles.
