The Overall Conclusion of 2018 Data Breaches and Cybersecurity Stats
2018 was quite a big year when it comes to cybersecurity. There were some absolutely huge breaches that changed the way many went about security. In this article, we will look at some of the biggest breaches, and stats regarding the state of cybersecurity in 2018. Airlines were a big target in 2018, with British Airways being one of the biggest affected. A total of 380,000 people had their financial and personal data stolen through both the website and their app. The breach affected bookings made between the 21st of August and the 5th of September. The airline took to British newspaper Metro with a full-page ad apologising to customers that had their data stolen. It didn’t do much to quell the fears of customers, as they scrambled to try and secure their information as quickly as possible.
