Security concerns motivate SD-WAN adoption, Versa study finds

Versa Networks recently published a report that found software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) adoption is on the rise as a way to improve security. SD-WAN is a way of connecting and securing WANs, which are used by data centers and branch offices, across large-scale distances. Versa SD-WAN and SD-Security are deployed by tier-one and two providers globally. According the report, by 2019, over 90% of enterprises will look to have launched SD-WAN. The survey consisted of feedback from 309 participants representing five continents. The report found that over 85% of companies consider SD-WAN as a way to increase security and minimize sprawl. Approximately 96% of respondents indicated an aggregated approach for networking and security is needed.
